We are your hosts and tour guides, Russ and Heidi.  Throughout our years together as a team, we have lived in unique situations; we have traveled and taught in China;  we have navigated the Smiley Face route from Vancouver, BC to the Boston, MA area; and finally settled on the LaHave River.  We began our years together at Mead's Spruce Island Camp, an island on Lake of the Woods, Ontario, Canada, where we spent our first year of marriage with the frozen lake, wolves, and eagles.  Our early years with our family involved living on the shores of Lake Manitoba, in the heart of the Canadian Prairies, but also on the water experiencing igloo building, sailing, hiking, and cold winter sports.  As our lives unfolded, we packed up our college aged daughters and moved them to Vancouver, BC, where we launched our stint in China and began as teachers to many ages of the Chinese people.  We returned to Vancouver, where we undertook preparations for our off-shore sailing odyssey.  In 2009 we set sail from the shores of Vancouver, headed north into Desolation Sound, and then back down the coast of North America, stopping along the way meeting folks from all over the world and experiencing life in the villages of Central America.

Tillicum 1, our stalwart and trusty wooden schooner brought us safely from port to port, and allowed us to become acquainted with fascinating people form all over.  Tillicum is a Salish word (an indigenous tribe from the Pacific Northwest) meaning "friend" or "friendship".  Everywhere we sailed, Tillicum connected us with the hearts and minds of travelers.  We are hoping to bring people the the LaHave, a most special part of the world, and share adventures, friendship, and memories.  Currently we are members of the Blue Water Cruising Association out of Vancouver, BC, and the Nova Scotia Schooner Association.
